The Code of Canon Law guarantees active, registered parishioners the right to marry in their parish church.
To be considered an active, regular parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a potential bride or groom must have been registered in the parish for at least one year prior to the desired date of marriage. An active parishioner is one who meets the following criteria:
Childern of long-time, registered, active members of St. Francis of Assisi parish are considered regular members of the parish. However, for purposes of marriage - if they are over the age of eighteen years, they are expected to have registered themselves as parishioners
If our schedule permits, we also celebrate weddings of new parisioners, members of other parishes, and those who do not yet belong to a parish family. Since these guests are not yet part of our faith community, they are asked to support the parish by means of a facilty usage fee, in the amount of $1,000.
Regular, active parishioners are encouraged to make a goodwill offering to the parish on the occasion of the celebration of their marriage, but are not required to pay any facility usage fee. Any goodwill offering is for the ongoing work of the parish and is not given to the celebrating minister or the musicians.
Our wedding coordinator is Mary Mitchell who handles all marriage preparation after the initial meeting with the pastor, as well as any miscellaneous details surrounding the wedding ceremony.
